Capital Campaign

Transforming the Place That is Berkeley

This month we celebrated the campus expansion, as designed in our Master Plan and funded by Above & Beyond:  The Campaign for Berkeley, with a ceremonial groundbreaking.   The gathering was kicked off by the Pipe and Drum Corps and Middle Division Cheerleaders followed by a welcome and comments from Greg Iglehart ’79, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Master Planning Committee; Joe Seivold, our Headmaster; and Bobby Reinhart, Athletic Director.  Each of the speakers thanked the Berkeley community for the commitment to our students, faculty and to the future of Berkeley.   The event was closed by Varsity Cheerleaders and the ceremonial gold shovels breaking ground.

This ceremony celebrated the Master Plan which features multiple phases, ultimately completing several construction projects throughout Berkeley's campus. The first phase of the campaign includes construction of the new sports complex, quad and clock tower which are all underway.  Other major components of this first phase included athletic and campus improvements. The varsity Softball Stadium and Baseball Stadium have already been completed near the campus’ northeast perimeter and are joined by a new Middle Division Baseball Stadium. A new baseball field house has been constructed housing locker rooms and a concession stand. An expanded Dickey Field has been constructed north of the Sports Complex; it is now used for junior varsity and varsity soccer, lacrosse,  and middle division sports.  These changes to the Berkeley campus will touch nearly every student on the Berkeley campus – from the young pre-kindergarten students to the graduating seniors – in some way. Furthermore, this first phase will set the stage for the second and third phases that will create an “academic core” to the campus.
