News The math team competed at the State Mu Alpha Theta competition on April 16-17. We took 40 students and they all worked very hard. Over 75 schools took part and Berkeley did very well. Below are the results Theta (Algebra 2) Steven Hang – 12^th - History of Math Jessica Lacy – 4^th - Geometry, 15^th - Functions, 10^th - Logs and Exponents, 4^th - Theta Individual Theta Team – 10^th (Jessica Lacy, Jonathan Hahn, Kalpana Ghanti, Krank King) Alpha (Precalculus) Jasmin Desai – 14^th - Complex Numbers Jack Timmel – 12^th - Alpha Apps Charles Clark – 11^th - Equations and Inequalities Mu (Calculus) Ruwan Gunaratne – 9^th - Calc Apps, 1^st - Integration, 3^rd - Limits and Derivatives, 5^th - Calc Individual Calc Team – 10^th (Ruwan Gunaratne, Shelly Agarwal, Kinson Wan, Salil Desai) School Awards Scrapbook – 10^th – Amy Wu and Jasmin Desai Sweepstakes (Overall) – 9^th Math Exploration Activities are now underway. Students from middle and upper division classes are visiting lower division classes for joint learning experiences. The Math FAX competition has concluded for this school year. Our students have performed exceedingly well with our Honors Algebra 2 team finishing first in the private school division. Individual students in Honors Geometry and Honors Algebra 2 have finished first in the country in their division. During the 2003-2004 school year, Berkeley students competed in the following competitions: Honors Algebra 1 - Math FAX Honors Geometry - Math FAX Honors Algebra 2 - Math FAX Honors Pre-Calculus - Math FAX AP Calculus BC, Grades 6,7 and 8 - Continental Math League Grades 8 - 12 - American Mathematics Competition, MU ALPHA THETA
