Coach Randy Dagostino Honored in Court-Naming Ceremony

Volleyball coach Randy Dagostino has had a distinguished career at Berkeley, winning 15 state titles in 28 years, and he received a special honor on October 19 that will surely rank among his most memorable moments. In a surprise ceremony, Athletic Director Bobby Reinhart announced that the court of the Straz Family Field House will be named “Coach Dag Court.” School administrators, students, fellow Berkeley coaches, parents of current students and alumni, former volleyball players and Dagostino’s family were all on hand. The ceremony included an audio message from his daughter, Mackenzie ’12, who is currently playing for the University of Maryland.

In Dagostino’s 28-year coaching career, he has produced 59 collegiate players, 23 All-Americans, nine state Players of the Year and one Gatorade National Player of the Year. He currently serves as the assistant coach for the varsity girls team and remains the head coach for the boys squad. Following the naming ceremony, Berkeley went on to defeat Tampa Prep in three sets.

The special event was covered by both Bright House Sports Network and the Tampa Bay Times.
