Academics

Credit Courses - The summer is the perfect opportunity for students to devote themselves to a favorite subject, or concentrate on an area that needs improvement. Berkeley offers credit classes in a variety of disciplines. Classrooms are informal, but the content is stimulating. Consider a credit course this summer to open room for additional challenges during the school year. Consult the Berkeley Curriculum Guide for a full description of each course. Classes meet 3 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 6 weeks.

  • Transportation is the responsibility of the parents. Most families wait until the first couple of school days and then form car pools among themselves.

  • Dress for the summer session is informal but neat. No Hats.

  • Expect one hour of homework for each classroom hour spent in credit and review courses.

  • Rules prohibiting drinking, smoking and illegal drugs will be in effect; Berkeley student handbook rules continue to be enforced during the summer. Berkeley is a smoke-free campus.

  • Berkeley emergency medical forms are required for new students.

  • Students will be permitted to take one credit course or two review courses per summer.

  • Berkeley recommends that you talk with the appropriate counselor when seeking the help of a tutor.

  • All courses without a minimum number of registrants are subject to cancellation.

  • Students who do not plan to attend for the full six weeks must inform the Summer Programs Office prior to the first day of classes or they will be charged full tuition. Weekly rates (Credit Course - TBA, Review Course - TBA) apply only to students attending these courses for fewer than six weeks.
