About Us

Welcome to the Writing Center.

The Writing Center originally came about as a way for students to get feedback from peer tutors on writing assignments. While tutoring remains at the core of the Center's mission, student members in recent years have expanded the Writing Center to include other activities. We have expanded in a physical sense in our outreach programs; tutors now regularly visit Academy Prep's Ybor campus to help younger students in a variety of school subjects and also host these students in their visits to Berkeley. We have also expanded technologically, as Berkeley students can now submit their papers over the internet through the Online Writing Lab for peer review. The Writing Center also heads an E-Newsletter project, which allows us to share our ideas and progress with other Writing Centers all over the country. At the Writing Center we're not all about academics, though - we like to have fun too! The hugely popular "Eat-N-Speaks," held during lunches and occasionally after school hours, provide students and teachers with the opportunity to share their creative spirits with their school community. As the Writing Center continues to grow, we strive to continue providing quality writing advice to students of all ages and to continue creating exciting and innovative activities during our future years at Berkeley.
