Applying to Middle Division

The Middle Division Admissions Committee begins evaluation of completed application files in mid-January with notification on a rolling basis from the end of January until all vacancies are filled. Capacity enrollment is usually achieved by early March with later applications considered for a waiting pool status.

Admissions Checklist Middle Division

Application Deadline: February 1
(Applications received after February 1 will be considered on a space available basis.)

Campus Visit
  • Parents are encouraged to schedule a campus visit to discuss the admissions process.
Middle Division Application
  • Application is best made in the fall of the year before anticipated entrance.
School Recommendation Checklist
  • Print and give the School Recommendation Checklist: Grades 6-8 to your child’s current teacher after November 15.
  • The current school should return this form to Berkeley along with transcript of grades earned for the last two years and the current year to date.
Otis-Lennon/Writing Sample
  • Schedule an appointment for testing and a writing sample through the Admissions Office.

SSAT
  • Register for the SSAT (Secondary School Admissions Test) at ssat.org.
  • When registering, please select Berkeley (School Code 1600) as a score recipient.
  • This test should be taken as early as possible, preferably in November, December or January before fall admission.
Shadowing
  • Students may attend classes for a partial day by shadowing a current Berkeley student.
  • These arrangements must be made in advance, as space is limited.
  • Call the Admissions Office at (813) 885-1673 for information and appointments.
Financial Aid
  • If you anticipate requesting financial aid, please review our financial aid webpage for important deadlines and procedures.
Berkeley makes all admission decisions without regard to financial status. Families who have reviewed their financial situation and feel that help may be needed in paying tuition should apply for aid. Financial aid awards are available at any grade level to students who demonstrate need.
