Applying to Middle Division

The Middle Division Admissions Committee begins evaluation of completed application files in mid-January with notification on a rolling basis from the end of January until all openings are filled. Capacity enrollment is usually achieved by early March with later applications considered for the waiting pool.

  • Campus Visit

    • Parents are encouraged to schedule a campus visit to discuss the admissions process.
  • Application

    • Application is best made in the fall of the year before anticipated entrance
    • Complete online application
    • Upload applicant’s birth certificate and optional photograph
    • Submit $75 application fee
  • Student Record Release Form

    • Sign and submit to the appropriate official at your child’s school (ie. registrar or school principal)
  • Teacher Recommendation Form

    • A Teacher Recommendation Form is required from both your child’s current English and Math teacher.
    • As a courtesy, please include a stamped envelope addressed to the Berkeley Preparatory School – Middle Division Admissions Office.
  • Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT)

    • All applicants for grades 6-8 are required to take the SSAT. The applicant’s family is responsible for individual registration. Please visit www.ssat.org.
    • Berkeley is offering the following on-campus Saturday dates: November 7, December 5, January 23, and February 6.
    • When registering, please select Berkeley (school code 1600) as a score recipient.
  • Berkeley Testing & Writing Sample

    • In addition to the SSAT, all applicants for grades 6-8 should schedule an appointment with the Admissions Office for the OLSAT (Otis-Lennon School Ability Test) and a writing sample at Berkeley.
  • Financial Aid

    If you anticipate requesting financial aid, please review our financial aid webpage for important deadlines and procedures.
Berkeley makes all admission decisions without regard to financial status. Families who have reviewed their financial situation and feel that help may be needed in paying tuition should apply for aid. Financial aid awards are available at any grade level to students who demonstrate need.
Founded in 1960, Berkeley is an independent, Episcopal, college-preparatory day school located in Tampa, FL, for boys and girls in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. Approximately 1,380 students gather here from the greater Tampa Bay area to form ONE Berkeley.
