Berkeley Secures Campaign Funds to Begin Major Building and Renovation Projects

Berkeley Preparatory School has now secured funding to break ground on two transformative construction projects - the building of a state-of-the-art Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC), and the complete renovation of the Merluzzi Administration building and Jean Ann Cone Library, including the installation of the Frederick Learning Commons. Just recently, Gabby and Tom Frederick and Francesca and Richard Forsyth each made significant pledges to the Above & Beyond campaign, as the Rothman/Atwood family did back in late January. These gifts, added to other leadership–level gifts recently made by the MacKechnie Family Foundation, Ella and Anatolii Zhukovskyi, Kathy and Scott Fink, Barbara and Aydin Keskiner, Kimberly and Chris Calkin, Sandhya and Suren Ajjarapu, and Emily and Andrew Wright, will allow the school to get these two exciting projects started.

In all, more than 700 families and family foundations have now made commitments to Above & Beyond: The Campaign for Berkeley Preparatory School, and the impact of that generosity cannot be understated. These families have helped Berkeley become one of the nation’s premier independent schools.

While fundraising efforts continue, the school is confident that it will successfully finish the campaign by year’s end, and will begin breaking ground and renovating this spring. School administrators anticipate the renovation to take approximately six months from the onset of the work, and the ECEC is estimated to be complete ten months from the start of construction.

“These are exciting times. We should all be extremely proud of the community we have created through the generosity of so many individuals and families,” said Headmaster Joseph Seivold.
