Berkeley Welcomes Jay Lasley as Admissions Director

Berkeley Preparatory School welcomed Jay Lasley as the new Director of Admissions this month. Jay comes to Berkeley as the former Admissions Director at Norfolk Academy, one of the oldest schools in the country.

Lasley graduated from the University of North Carolina and earned a Master of Education from Elon University. Prior to his work at Norfolk Academy, he was the Admissions Director at the Burlington School beginning in 2006. Jay started his career in education as a teacher and multi-sport coach at Williams High School in Burlington, N.C. in 1996. His career-long passion for serving students, families, and schools has led him now to Berkeley, where he is sure to make a great impact.

“My family and I are thrilled to be a part of the Berkeley community,” said Lasley. “I am so proud to serve this remarkable school alongside Mr. Seivold and the talented and dedicated faculty. It is a personal and professional honor to continue to lead Berkeley’s admissions and enrollment efforts and follow in the footsteps of two legendary directors, Mary Will Thomas, and of course, the talented and dynamic Janie McIlvaine.”

We are truly excited to welcome his energy, compassion, and drive to our fantastic admissions team. Jay is joined in Tampa by his wife Emilly and their three children, Jack '23, Kate '25, and Sam '27. Welcome, Lasley family!
