Headmaster Seivold Welcomes A New School Year: A Letter to the Berkeley Community
It is with profound excitement that I write to welcome you to the 2019-2020 school year, Berkeley Preparatory School’s 59th in service to our students, families, alumni, employees, greater Tampa Bay, and the world. The campus has come alive, as we’ve received students from all three divisions to various opening and orientation activities. The energy is contagious. New or veteran to Berkeley, all of us will greet this first day of school as unique, because it is. Today is each child’s first time experiencing this first day, and our only chance to meet them where they are right now. We stand ready to calm nerves, allay fears, celebrate early triumphs, and bolster in the wake of any setback – in short, we are thrilled for the opportunity to know and lovingly nurture your child.
The 269 employees of Berkeley Preparatory School have worked exceedingly hard over these last two months to create the best possible environment for each child in our charge. The buildings and grounds are in stellar condition (with more improvements to come!), the curriculum and program has been further honed and enhanced, we’ve hired a fantastic array of professionals to join us, and we’ve innovated in more areas than I can count, all so that we can deliver our best year ever. I very much look forward to working with each member of the community to make it so.
Our campus is now bustling. Thank you for your patience at drop off and pick up – safety first please. Already there are games to catch, clubs to join, and performances to enjoy. I hope you will relish time with us, appreciating the fruits of the significant labors put in by kids and adults alike. And I hope we’ll be able to share some time as well; it is an honor to serve.
