Berkeley Recognizes Newest Honor Society Members

The Berkeley Preparatory School chapters of the National Honor Society (NHS) and the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) recently recognized their newest members in two separate convocation ceremonies.

Specifically, 116 members of the junior and senior classes were recognized as the newest members of the National Honor Society. In addition, there are 50 students from grades 7 and 8 in the Middle Division who were recognized as members of the National Junior Honor Society.

The NHS is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. With chapters in all 50 states, every chapter has different qualifications for membership based on the four pillars: character, scholarship, leadership, and service. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since its beginning in 1921. Per the NHS Constitution, all chapters' eligibility requirements must include, at minimum:

•attending school in grades 10 through 12
•maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 85 percent, B, 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), or equivalent standard of excellence
•demonstrating volunteer or service hours
•preserving an excellent record of behavior in and out of school
•participating in leadership roles in school and/or community activities.

Congratulations to our 2021-22 NHS and NJHS members. CLICK HERE for a full listing of members.
