Berkeley Hosts First Holiday “Wrap-In” to Benefit Charities

Berkeley students and faculty came together on the morning of December 4 for Berkeley’s first holiday “Wrap-In.” This remarkable new service initiative brought together the entire school community to benefit local charities. Students from all three divisions donated gifts and worked together with faculty to decorate and fill hundreds of gift bags. Faculty members provided a variety of fun items including stickers and tissue paper, which the students used to decorate the gift bags. All of the donated gifts were then delivered to the Aye Arboretum where our generous parent volunteers collected and sorted the gifts in preparation for delivery to the different agencies, while students enjoyed a cookie treat. Throughout the day, the artfully decorated gifts were on display in celebration of this wonderfully collaborative effort to celebrate the spirit of giving. The following organizations are benefiting from this “Wrap-In” initiative: Redlands Migrant Daycare, Head Start Programs (Jackson Springs, McCloud & Westgate), Dover Exceptional Center, Southeast Guide Dogs, Afghanistan Student Advocate Project, Soldiers (VA & Troops in Iraq), and Hudson Manor Retirement Center.
