Three 2012 Berkeley Alums Earn All-American Honors

A talented trio of Berkeley Buccaneer alumni are making their marks among the country’s elite college athletes and garnering some well-deserved recognition for their efforts. Three members of the Berkeley Class of 2012 earned individual All-American awards over the course of one week and continue to shine in post-season play.
University of Southern California junior wide out Nelson Agholor ’12 has been recognized by the Associated Press by earning Third-Team All-American honors this week. Agholor set a USC record catching over 200 yards receiving in consecutive games this year for the Trojans.

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) honored two former Buccaneer volleyball standouts by recognizing Stanford University junior Jordan Burgess ’12 as an AVCA First-Team All-American and University of Florida junior Mackenzie Dagostino ’12 as an AVCA Third-Team All-American. Burgess and Dagostino went head to head on December 13 during regional play of the NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships when Stanford defeated Florida to advance to the semifinal round.

“I could not be more proud of these three Berkeley alums – Mackenzie, Jordan, and Nelson.  No one at Berkeley is surprised by the success they have had at the highest level of collegiate sports.  All three embody the very essence of the student-athlete for which all young people should strive,” said Bobby Reinhart, Athletic Director and Head Boys Basketball Coach at Berkeley.
