Congratulations to the Berkeley Class of 2016

Melissa Maxfield ’83 delivered an inspiring commencement address and shared with the new graduates, “You don’t have to know today what you want to do for the rest of your life. Here, you are given the tools to do anything you wish. My experiences at Berkeley helped me find my career and yours will too.” Maxfield serves as the Senior Vice President of Federal Government Affairs and is a Corporate Officer for Comcast NBC Universal. In this role, she is responsible for all legislative issues for Congress and the administration, all political activities for the company in Washington, D.C., along with corporate affairs.

Headmaster Joseph Seivold, who earlier had accepted the class gift from Nathan Bekesh ’16 and Brad Haskell ’16, enthusiastically remarked, “Class of 2016, we are your school forever!” Highlights of the day included a spirited welcome from Hinton Rago ’16, the reading of the class poem by Annie Phifer ’16, and the class oration by Kendall Caputo ’16.

Hundreds gathered for a post-commencement celebration in the Berkeley Café, where family and friends congratulated the graduates, snapped photos and wished future successes.
