Girls Volleyball Claims 16th State Title


It took every bit of five sets for the Buccaneers to claim the title. Kellyn Trowse led the Buccaneers with 17 kills, and Amanda Phegley scored 12, while Grace Varsames contributed 50 assists in the marathon match.  Jenna Hampton added an impressive 14 kills.
 
Berkeley ended the season at 30-2, with their only losses coming in tightly contested matches against national powerhouses. The Buccaneers claimed the victory under the direction first-year coach Mackenzie Dagostino, daughter of Berkeley coaching legend Randy Dagostino. The win accounted for her fourth overall title as a coach and a player.
