Weekend Results

The JV White Volleyball team ended the season on a HIGH NOTE! JV White competed at Keswick Christian School and had a very fun and dominating weekend. Friday we faced Indian Rocks and took the 1st set 25-21 with superior serving by Sara Matulis, Sophia Vasiloudes and Julianna Kaiafas. Mia Steele held her ground as Libero with some strong accurate digging in the back row keeping us defensively strong. Second set was even stronger with hard hits by Nicole Ubani and Maggie Matulis. Kavi Pandya took the lead with Cayla Moore getting hurt in the first game to provide accurate hands to our hitters, and the girls took the 2nd set and match 25-17. The only loss on day 1 of the tournament was to Bradenton, 21-25 and 19-25.
The girls returned on Saturday on fire and ready to play. The first match was a battle against Calvary Christian, but our Bucs looked good throughout. The girls took set one 25-23 with outstanding libero precision from Julianna Kaiafas who did not let anything pass her. The middle hitter Sofia Vasiloudes dominated the front row with aggressive hits down the middle. Power also came from our back row hitting from Jenna Rudolph. Calvary took the 2nd set, 22-25. The Bucs were extremely focused and determined to fight for set 3. With strong hitting by Maggie Matulis and Julianna Kaiafas we won an exciting third set 16-14! The team was on fire and ready for more wins! Next up they faced Tampa Bay Heat and dominated the first set 25-10. In the 2nd set we struggled a little and faced an uphill climb, but despite being behind by 6 points our girls fought back and took the lead, second set and the win, 26-24. Coach Torres was extremely proud of the tremendous teamwork and play the team displayed. The girls have worked hard in the last 2 weeks and it all payed off. Congratulation JV White!
