Berkeley Recognized As An Apple Distinguished School

Berkeley Preparatory School is pleased to announce that it has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for 2021–22 for incorporating Apple technology into its expansive and interdisciplinary curriculum.  Innovating education through the use of technology is so essential that Berkeley included it within the primary goal of the school’s strategic plan. The goal, A Transformative Educational Journey, is supported by strategies that invite students to be central participants in their own learning, becoming adept at goal setting, critical thinking, problem solving, and reflection.

Apple Distinguished Schools are centers of innovation, leadership, and educational excellence. They use Apple technology to connect students to the world, fuel creativity, deepen collaboration, and make learning personal. This recognition by Apple make Berkeley just one of approximately 535 schools from 32 countries to earn this prestigious distinction.

“Apple products are integral to the learning process at Berkeley; our students and teachers use Apple technology, including iPad and MacBook Pro, throughout the school year to catalyze, foster, and enhance the educational experience we offer. As such, we are very proud to have earned this prestigious recognition,” said Berkeley Headmaster Joseph Seivold.

The selection of Berkeley as an Apple Distinguished School highlights the school’s success in creating an innovative and compelling learning environment that engages students and provides tangible evidence of academic achievement.

Apple technology in the hands of all Berkeley students, and technology in every classroom, centers the learner in their education. Berkeley’s Apple Teachers leverage the most powerful learning tools in history to engage students in a shared experience of discovery that gives reality to the promise of a transformative education. The results are nothing short of phenomenal. Science teachers collaborate with music teachers to allow students to see and measure the relationship between pitch and frequency. When social distancing stopped live performances, theatre students produced a feature film in place of a stage production. From a Pre-K student using iPad to photograph and study the structure of a leaf, to an orchestra student using his or her MacBook Pro to record and edit a self-duet, Berkeley students use technology to make learning personal and meaningful.
