The Path to Safety

Since I was a little kid, I have always wanted to make friends with everyone, and get to know new people. Most of the time, this kind of personality has led me into amazing friendships, and other times it hasn’t.

Middle school friendships were always rough for me because that is the point in your life where it can feel like everyone is constantly judging and criticizing you. This made me realize there were some friendships that just weren’t meant to be. During this time of my life, I turned to God, and he helped me through it all. He showed me a the light at the end of the tunnel, and helped me break away from a friendship that was unhealthy and hurtful.

In the Psalm, we are told that God leads people like sheep out of the wilderness into safety where they are no longer afraid and troubled. During my eighth grade year, I had two sisters that were my best friends who I would always laugh with and shared memories with. I cherished these friendships, however, I began to slowly lose myself without even realizing. Through God, he provided me with clarity; and led me out of the darkness and into the light again, just like the sheep.

My challenge for you is to reflect on a time when you were in the wilderness and God was able to lead you into the promise land.
