Environmental Club Students Clean Up Sweetwater Creek

Students worked together to clean up Sweetwater Creek, a stretch of creek running along the northeast side Berkeley’s campus that flows directly into the Tampa Bay.  Environmental Club members, several upper division students, teachers Dr. Kline and Mrs. Ludwig collected 12 large bags of trash, old fencing, tires, boards and many other items polluting the creek. Volunteer work is essential to the maintenance of public lands, and this hands-on involvement of student volunteers creates a positive influence on the future health of Tampa Bay’s waterways. The Sweetwater Creek Clean Up is one of many community service projects students participate in at Berkeley. Overall, students collectively perform more than 25,000 hours of community service each year.
