Congratulations to the Class of 2013!

On June 2, 118 new graduates received their diplomas at Berkeley's 51st Commencement exercises among family and friends in the Straz Family Field House. The graduates listened to an inspiring address by Calvin Carter ’89. He shared with the graduates his personal life lessons to becoming successful and advised to them go into world and do the things they love to do. “Find that thing in life that excites you the most,” he challenged the Class. “In fact, make that the most important thing to you and keep the most important thing as the most important thing. If you do it right, you will fail, you will stick with it and then you will do it well.”

Berkeley Headmaster Joseph Seivold shared with the more than 1,600 in attendance, “The excellence in each of these graduates is now the world’s to enjoy and benefit from. They indeed are ready to take on the world!”

Graduates from the Class of 2013 were accepted to a combined total of 156 colleges and universities in 30 states, the District of Columbia and Canada. All graduates were accepted in a college or university, 18 were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Program and 82 will attend out-of-state schools (69 percent of the class). The Class of 2013 earned $9 million in scholarship money, and 93 percent of the class qualified for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship program.

Congratulations to the Class of 2013! You make us proud.
