Five Berkeley Student-Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent

Today, student-athletes from Berkeley Preparatory School signed National Letters of Intent in a special upper division convocation ceremony in the Lykes Center for the Arts. Berkeley has 46 alumni participating in varsity collegiate athletics, and today five more Berkeley student-athletes took the next step to join them:  Dante Bosnic, Sidney Brown, Kyle Dagostino, Justin Gray, and Kristin Hoover.  National Signing Day has become an annual tradition at Berkeley honoring the hard work and dedication of our senior Buccaneers who will continue their academic and athletic endeavors at some of the country’s top colleges and universities. The ceremony was streamed live on the Berkeley Broadcast Network and can be replayed for viewing.

Berkeley Athletes who signed National Letters of Intent:
Dante Bosnic (Baseball) - Brown University
Bosnic has been the foundation of the Berkeley baseball program for four years with his pitching, fielding and batting. He is a student-athlete who excels in the classroom and on the diamond.  Mature beyond his years, Dante has been an exceptional role model and leader to his teammates and coaches.

Sidney Brown (Volleyball) - Stanford University
Brown has been a starter on the girls varsity volleyball team for three years.  She has over 1,100 kills in her Berkeley career.  Among her many accolades, she was just named as a 2nd team AVCA Under Armour All-American for 2013.  She is a focused and driven athlete that works hard on the court, off the court and in the classroom.

Kyle Dagostino (Volleyball) - Stanford University
Since 7th grade, Dagostino has excelled as a starting setter for the boys volleyball team. He has held that same position for five straight seasons, earning MVP honors each year.  Last season, Dagostino finished the season ranked first in the Florida with 415 kills and 6th in the nation, which also placed him 2nd in the nation hitting .491. He also was first in Florida and 4th in the nation with 81 aces. With additional offers from Princeton, Loyola of Chicago, Pepperdine, and UCLA, Kyle had a very tough decision to make on Signing Day but chose Stanford as the best fit both academically and athletically.

Justin Gray (Basketball) - Texas Tech University
Gray is a five-year letterman and four-year starter on the varsity boys basketball team. With his entire senior season ahead of him, Justin ranks as Berkeley’s 7th all-time leading scorer. Gray is an extremely versatile player which had basketball coaches across the country courting his services.  With offers from Stanford, Harvard, Tulane and VCU, Gray made the ultimate decision to play for legendary Hall of Fame coach Tubby Smith at Texas Tech.

Kristin Hoover (Softball) - University of California, Berkeley
Hoover has been a four- year starter on the softball team playing catcher, shortstop and pitching when the team needed her.  Her local and statewide accolades are endless.  She is notorious around campus as being one of Berkeley's hardest working student-athletes.  This, along with her prowess on the field, earned her last year’s Berkeley Female Athlete of the Year honors.

Congratulations to all of our Berkeley signees!
