Lykes Center for the Arts

Opened in 1997, Berkeley’s Lykes Center for the Arts is an amazing facility. It supports and enhances our school’s standard of excellence in education by serving as a focal point for nurturing, promoting and celebrating interaction between students, artists, educators and the community. The facility is used daily for Middle Division and Upper Division convocation, and students from Pre-K to 12th grade have opportunities to perform on the stage each year.

The 634-seat theater includes a proscenium stage that can be configured with either an apron or an orchestra pit. The hall is equipped with separate sound and lighting booths, a ComStar communications system, and programmable audio/visual, lighting and sound technology.

The Johnson Lobby and Pautler Gallery welcome patrons to a variety of art shows throughout the year. Our Visual Arts Department regularly displays two and three-dimensional art by our talented students as well as collections of select pieces from our creative faculty members and alumni.
