With a student/counselor ratio of 44:1 and a counseling relationship that begins at the end of the sophomore year, Berkeley students have an advantage as they enter the world of college admissions: personal attention and continuous guidance through a confusing and competitive process.  Berkeley’s College Counselors focus on the needs of individual students and their families. Counselors spend time with students on an individual basis, encouraging them to consider the characteristics and qualities that are most important to them, the environment that is most conducive to their continued academic growth and maturity, and a college or university that will allow them to maximize their considerable potential and attain their future goals.  The low student/counselor ratio positively impacts Berkeley students, allowing for personal attention that ensures each student will successfully navigate the application process and continue to achieve academic success well beyond Berkeley.
“We measure the success of a year upon the number of students who have multiple offers of admission and can choose the best fit for them.  We encourage students to ask tough questions that will point them in the right direction, do some serious self-evaluation, and apply to colleges and universities that will truly be the best matches. The college application process can be incredibly stressful for students, but we want the process to be rewarding and, if possible, fun.”
