Engaged students share one thing in common: dynamic teachers who bring learning to life. For teaching to be alive with excitement, the faculty must maintain a passion for their subjects and their own thirst for knowledge. Berkeley faculty members are among the finest teachers in their areas, continuously enriching their own learning in a variety of ways. More than 70 percent of our faculty hold advanced degrees.

Teachers not only attend, but also conduct seminars and conferences. They regularly seek new avenues to explore and impart discoveries within their fields. The ultimate recipients of this level of experience are the students, who enjoy the rewards of such scholarly investigations in vibrant classroom discussions. Furthermore, Berkeley limits class size, so students receive one-on-one attention from these faculty members. Outside the classroom, our teachers offer extra assistance to ensure that academic inquiry results in knowledge gained and a life-long love of learning.

The Berkeley community of professionals:

Is COLLEGIAL. Berkeley faculty take part in a professional growth process involving peer observation across the school, as well as faculty-led support and mentoring of new colleagues. Our community of professionals are invested in their own and each others’ success.

Is DIVERSE. Our faculty identify as White, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Middle Eastern, and Multiracial. Berkeley is committed to supporting a culturally diverse faculty and student body in an inclusive community.

Is FORWARD THINKING. Teachers enjoy a one-to-one environment and cloud-based collaboration to share with each other and the students.

Is NATIONALLY PROMINENT. Berkeley teachers present annually at regional and national educational conferences.

Is SUPPORTIVE OF OUR MISSION. One hundred percent of our faculty and staff support the Berkeley Fund, the school's annual giving program.

Is WIDELY PUBLISHED. Our faculty and staff are published in textbooks, professional journals, books, and articles on academic scholarship.

Is RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE in education. Our teachers are grant and scholarship recipients, serve in leadership positions for regional and national organizations, and work with colleges and universities to strengthen teacher certification and training.

Is COMMITTED to campus life beyond the classroom. Berkeley teachers coach teams, sponsor clubs, chaperone activities, and revel in campus life.
