Student-Athlete Leadership Program

The Student-Athlete Leadership Program is designed to equip Berkeley student-athletes with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles as sports team leaders. As many legendary coaches have stated, elite teams are led by the players and hold each other accountable. Through a combination of theoretical concepts, practical exercises, and real-world scenarios, student-athlete leaders will focus on developing communication skills, team building, and decision-making abilities. The program aims to develop confident, resilient, and empathetic student-athlete leaders who can motivate their teammates, foster a positive team culture, and inspire peak performance.
“This program has been developed so that student-athletes will learn important tools and techniques, as well as have peer experiences that will enhance their ability to not only help lead their teams, but also lead in all their activities, both on and off campus,” says Melaney Amos O’Carroll ’84, Athletic Director.
