Show your commitment to Berkeley by making a pledge now to pay at a time that is most convenient for you. All Berkeley Fund pledges are due in full by June 30. Major gifts may be paid in cash at the time of commitment or in installments over three to five years with a signed gift agreement for the entire amount of the pledge.

Many donors choose to make gifts of appreciated stocks, bonds, mutual funds, or exchange-traded funds because they can have a large impact on our mission, while providing potential tax benefits, including avoidance of capital gains taxes. Please review the form for instructions on making your gift and notify the Office of Institutional Advancement to anticipate your gift.

Please consult your tax advisor when using appreciated securities or qualified charitable distributions from Individual Retirement Accounts as they may impact your specific income tax situation.

SECURITIES TRANSFER INSTRUCTIONS

A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is a personal charitable giving account held by an individual in which donors receive an immediate tax deduction for contributions at a minimum level to their DAF, then can recommend grants from the fund to 501(c)(3) charities like Berkeley Preparatory School. If you have an existing DAF through Fidelity Charitable, Schwab Charitable, or BNY Mellon Charitable, you can designate gifts to Berkeley directly:

Berkeley Preparatory School accepts cryptocurrency gifts through a secure platform, The Giving Block. To make a gift, please use the form below.

In accordance with the Berkeley Preparatory School Fundraising Policy Statement, all contributions of cryptocurrency are converted to cash immediately upon acceptance and cannot be refunded for any reason. Donors will receive an electronic charitable gift receipt with comprehensive details about each transaction. Donors may wish to consult their tax advisor about the tax consequences of making a cryptocurrency gift, as well as the documentation required in order to claim a deduction.

Many companies offer matching gift programs, which encourage employees to contribute to charitable organizations. Some provide matching funds to support employee volunteer gifts. Most of these programs match contributions dollar for dollar, and some will even double or triple the amount of your gift.

A family member, faculty member, student, alumna or alumnus, friend, or loved one may be honored through a special named or memorial gift to Berkeley. Many varied opportunities exist, and the Office of Institutional Advancement can assist with arrangements on an individual basis. Donations of equipment, materials, or other valuable items for Berkeley’s classrooms, libraries, offices, or facilities are considered gifts in kind. Acceptance of items is subject to usage and space constraints. Planned giving presents an opportunity for donors to structure a gift that not only provides for the future of our young people, but also achieves a variety of financial objectives. Deferred gifts include bequests, life insurance, trusts, and gifts of stock or real estate.
