Students can self-refer to seek short-term interventions around a variety of mental health concerns that might impact their academic success during the school day

Facilitation of small groups to practice social skills or address a common concern

Delivered via the required semester-long Freshman Seminar course

Examples of topics covered include mental health 101, stress management, growth mindset, suicide risk prevention, and healthy coping skills

Facilitate student led mental health club, “Let’s Talk”

Regular wellness outreach events, including mindfulness hikes, stress-less week during exam season, and building positive self-esteem

Management of the Health Support System, a non-disciplinary pathway for students to seek help and share concerns

Work alongside both academic and student life deans to support ninth graders’ social transition into the Upper Division

Design the annual Senior Retreat to prepare the graduating class for the academic, social, and emotional transition to college

Facilitate Senior Lunch and Learn sessions related to the social/emotional transition to college—examples include how to seek mental health resources on college campuses and navigate conflicts with roommates

Host Fall and Spring parent “Coffee and Connection” events to provide psychoeducation, resources, and discussion around relevant teen mental health topics

Share mental health-related articles, podcasts, and other resources with families through the Counseling Corner in the Upper Division Newsletter

Support Upper Division students and their families with resource referrals to outpatient mental health providers and other community mental health resources as needed

Partner alongside families as they navigate the psychological evaluation process and help teachers implement any relevant social-emotional recommendations at school
