Tuition and Tuition Assistance

In determining need, Berkeley Preparatory School follows NAIS Principles of Good Practice. Tuition assistance awards are based upon FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment (FACTS) financial assessment of each applicant. It is important to note that Berkeley may not be able to accommodate all financial aid applicants in a given year. Complete applications and required documents received in the Admissions Office by the deadline will receive first priority relative to assistance dollars available.

• Deadline for New Families Applying to Berkeley for the 2026-2027 School Year: February 1, 2026*
  • Award notification at the end of February / early March

All families applying for tuition assistance for the first time should contact Julia Loncar, Associate Director of Admissions and Tuition Assistance, by calling (813) 885-1673 or emailing loncajul@berkeleyprep.org. Families currently receiving assistance must submit a new tuition assistance application each year. If the financial circumstances remain the same, the school will make every effort to support a family at the same level of assistance.

To apply for tuition assistance for the 2026-2027 school year, please complete the following steps no later than December 15, 2025* for returning Berkeley families, or February 1, 2026* for new applicants:

1. Create your FACTS online account. Please note: Tuition Assistance applications will be available October 1.
2. Complete your Tuition Assistance application.
3. Submit your additional required documents listed below:

• • Upload your 2023 and 2024 1040 income tax return(s) with signatures
  • Business/Farm Statement and Corporate Tax Return/Schedule C/Schedule F (if applicable)
  • Upload your 2023 and 2024 W-2 Forms (if applicable)
  • Upload a copy of your most recent pay stub(s)
  • By April 15, 2026, upload a copy of your 2025 federal tax forms with all supporting schedules and W-2 Forms (if applicable)

Note to families using non-U.S. dollars and tax structure: Due to the difficulty in evaluating need using non-U.S. dollars and tax structure, a family must provide 2023 and 2024 U.S. tax returns in order to apply for tuition assistance.

Recognizing that each parent bears a responsibility for financing a student’s education, financial information from all family members is required. Custodial and non-custodial parents (regardless of legal settlements, who are divorced, separated, or never married) must submit their own tuition assistance application. The Tuition Assistance Committee will consider all household assets in determining need.

Tuition assistance is an award based on a family’s demonstrated need, as determined by FACTS calculations, tax returns, and Berkeley’s Tuition Assistance Committee. Tuition assistance is an award, not a loan, and therefore, is not paid back to the school.

“Demonstrated need” is defined as the difference between the annual tuition and the amount a family can be expected to contribute to the cost of the student’s education. The tuition assistance application and tax returns are used to determine need.

Berkeley’s tuition assistance is need-based. We do not offer academic, athletic, or artistic merit-based scholarships.

None. The admissions process is distinct and separate from the tuition assistance process. Berkeley employs a need-blind admissions policy.

Tuition assistance will be awarded at the end of February / early March after acceptance and prior to the deposit deadline.

Yes. Since a family’s financial circumstances are subject to change, we require reapplication for tuition assistance each year. If your family’s financial situation remains stable, you can expect, relatively, the same percentage of tuition assistance, understanding tuition and fees are likely to increase each year.

Anyone may apply for tuition assistance. We recognize that each family’s financial situation is unique.
