Impact Report Story: Scott Price
Husband to Kirsten, Father to Adriana '24 and Brooks, Brother to Ashley Price Holder '99
Berkeley Preparatory School and the people who support it have made a profound impact on my family. We have tremendous gratitude to the donors of the past, who provided the opportunity for my sister, Ashley, to continue her journey at Berkeley when our family had a financial need. I witnessed firsthand her development and how she’s come to live Berkeley’s mission of making a positive difference in the world.
This directly led to my decision to enroll my children, Brooks and Adriana. During their time at Berkeley, we have watched Brooks and Adriana create deep friendships and understand their responsibility to be good students, good friends, and most importantly, good people. My wish is for them to achieve success as they define it—and I believe Berkeley’s faculty, facilities, and curriculum gave them the greatest chance to do just that.
Over the years, I have contributed to several campaigns transforming Berkeley’s campus. These include the initiatives to construct the Gries Center for the Arts and Sciences and the Berkeley Chapel. These campaigns have strengthened opportunities for Berkeley students, creating a state-of-the-art environment where Brooks, Adriana, and their peers can grow intellectually and spiritually.
My most recent gift took quite a bit of planning and years of secrecy before it finally came to fruition during Commencement weekend 2024. When Ashley returned to Berkeley to deliver the Commencement address to the Class of 2024, we surprised her with a fully-endowed scholarship named for her. The Ashley Price Holder ’99 Scholarship will benefit a deserving student who could not otherwise afford to attend Berkeley. After Ashley’s life-changing experience at 4811 Kelly Road, we are thrilled to pay it forward and enable future students to make a positive difference in the world.
We take great joy in the facilities to which we contributed, and we are proud to see how they are enriching students’ lives. We hope our gift of a Berkeley education is cherished by generations of students who will hold the school and its community of people in the highest regard, as our family has for decades. We look forward to learning how the students who receive the Ashley Price Holder ’99 Scholarship go on to achieve their own success.
