    Congratulations to the Class of 2023

    On Sunday, June 4, 2023, the Berkeley Preparatory School Class of 2023 officially joined the ranks of alumni following a distinguished commencement ceremony witnessed by a full house of adoring family, friends, and teachers. Our impressive graduates were accepted to a combined total of 199 colleges and universities in 40 states, Washington D.C., five foreign countries, and one U.S. territory. The Class of 2023 earned over $10 million in scholarships, and 88 percent of the class qualified for the Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Program. Twenty-four percent of the class earned some designation from the National Merit program, either Finalist, Commended Scholar, National African American, National Indigenous, or National Hispanic Scholar.     BERKELEY THEATRE “OUTSTANDING” IN BROADWAY STAR OF THE FUTURE PROGRAM

    Berkeley's Upper Division Theatre program has been participating in the Broadway Star of the Future adjudication process for its spring musical for the last six years. This year, the program achieved a milestone by entering its fall play for the first time. The judging panel reviewed a total of 45 musicals and 28 plays from 44 high schools across 9 counties. We are thrilled to announce the nominees and winners in their respective categories. Please join us in congratulating all the outstanding nominees.     Berkeley’s Master Plan Realized Through the Generosity of Many

    The Dedication and Consecration of the Berkeley Chapel on April 15, 2023 marked the official completion of Berkeley Preparatory School’s Master Plan. The Berkeley Chapel is the final building of a phased plan that was to take 20 years to complete and entirely transform the campus. The school conducted two capital campaigns, Above & Beyond: The Campaign for Berkeley Preparatory School and Berkeley Now, Berkeley Forever, with two major goals – to alter the campus learning environment and to bolster the school’s endowment.

    Five Berkeley Student-Athletes Commit to College Athletic Programs

    On April 12, five Berkeley student-athletes committed to continue their athletic endeavors at some of the best colleges and universities in the country as part of Spring Signing Day. They join 15 members of the Class of 2023 who have already signed a National Letter of Intent. Those committing to compete for a Division 1 program signed the National Letter of Intent.

    Berkeley's Debate Team Wins Big!

    Berkeley’s debate team pulled off something amazing and extremely unusual at the 49th Annual Harvard High School Speech and Debate Tournament this past weekend in Cambridge, MA. 
     
    More than 80 teams of two students competed from high schools across the country. From Berkeley, 10 Upper Division students competed—four varsity teams and one JV team. The top 32 teams moved on to the elimination round, and Berkeley was the only school in the tournament that had three teams make the elimination round.

    Eleven student-athletes from Berkeley Preparatory School committed to compete for their collegiate team of choice in a joint ceremony on February 1, in the Lykes Center for the Arts on Berkeley’s campus. Those committed to play for a Division I program signed a National Letter of Intent.

    Berkeley Seniors Garner An Impressive Number of Early College Admissions

    As the Berkeley Preparatory School Class of 2023 settles in for their final semester in Upper Division, an impressive 138 seniors—89% of the class—have already been admitted by at least one college or university. These admittances are a combination of early decisions, early action, and rolling admissions decisions ahead of the regular college decision period that typically takes place throughout March.

    Health Science Laureates Thrive in Experiential Learning Environments

    As part of their capstone clinical experience, seven laureates—all seniors—in Berkeley’s Health Sciences Institute (BHSI) were recently treated to a behind-the-scenes tour and Q&A with Tom Mulligan, Director of Sports Medicine and Head Athletic Trainer for the Tampa Bay Lightning. They learned about how Tom and his team help professional hockey players prevent and treat injuries.

    This fall, four senior Berkeley student-athletes signed their National Letter of Intent to participate in an NCAA sport next year in college. They join 96 fellow Buccaneer alumni currently competing in college athletics. Each has proven that athletic excellence can co-exist with exemplary performance in the classroom.
