Welcome to Peru, a land of ancient mysteries, vibrant cultures, and breathtaking landscapes that offer an immersive educational journey for student travelers. In addition to the dense Amazon rainforest and the vast Lake Titicaca, Peru features an extensive Pacific coastline and is crowned by the soaring peaks of the Andes Mountains. From exploring the awe-inspiring ruins of Machu Picchu to experiencing lively markets, distinctive cuisine, and warm-hearted communities, students will uncover the rich history, diverse traditions, and natural wonders that make Peru a captivating destination for learning and adventure.

Tentative Itinerary:
Monday, March 16
- Depart on your flight to Lima.
- Arrive in Lima and meet your tour manager.
- Check into your hotel and have dinner.
Tuesday, March 17
- Breakfast at your hotel
- Head to the airport for your flight to Cusco.
- Arrive in Cusco and check into your lodging.
- Lunch at the lodge or a local restaurant
- Acclimate to the high altitude of Cusco.
- Attend a meeting with your tour manager to discuss your upcoming service work and learn about the community you will be serving.
- Dinner at the lodge
Wednesday, March 18
- Breakfast at the lodge
- Enjoy a guided tour of nearby archaeological sites, including Puca Pucara, Sacsayhuaman, and Quenko.
- Lunch at a local restaurant
- Travel to your rural host town, about one hour outside of Cusco.
- Check into your lodging at the Cultural House and explore the village.
Thursday, March 19
- Breakfast at the lodge
- Service project day one: Your work will involve improving community buildings and agricultural infrastructure, as well as reforestation. You will work on these projects four to six hours a day. You will also work and play with the local children at the Cultural House.
- Lunch at the lodge
- In the evenings, you will have dinner together and participate in local cultural activities.
Friday, March 20
- Community service project and local cultural activities, day two
Saturday, March 21
- Community service project and local cultural activities, day three
Sunday, March 22
- In the morning, wrap up your service work and say goodbye to the locals.
- Travel to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley.
- Lunch in the Sacred Valley
- Walk around town, see nearby Incan ruins, and visit a local museum to learn about the diversity of food in Peru.
- Board a train to the town of Aguas Calientes near Machu Picchu.
- Check into your hotel, have dinner, and spend the night in Aguas Calientes.
Monday, March 23
- Rise very early and have breakfast at the hotel.
- Take a bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
- Spend the entire morning exploring Machu Picchu and its environs.
- Return to town for lunch.
- Visit a handicraft market before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo on your way back to Cusco.
- Arrive in Cusco, check into your lodge, and have dinner.
Tuesday, March 24
- Breakfast at the lodge.
- Enjoy a guided tour of Cusco with your tour manager.
- Lunch as a group in Cusco.
- Head to the airport for a flight back to Lima.
- Arrive in Lima and check into your hotel.
- Dinner at a local restaurant.
Wednesday, March 25
- Breakfast at your hotel
- Explore the historical center of Lima.
- Visit the Basilica Catedral de Lima, the Convent of San Francisco, and its ancient burial sites in the catacombs.
- Explore the neighborhood around your hotel in the afternoon.
- Lunch and dinner at local restaurants
Thursday, March 26
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Check out of the hotel and store your luggage.
- Visit the Pachacamac Archaeological Site and learn about pre-Hispanic spirituality.
- Lunch at a local restaurant
- Continue to explore the neighborhoods of Lima.
- Dinner at a local restaurant
- Transport to the international airport for a night flight back to Tampa.
Friday, March 27
- After your connecting flight, return to Tampa.
Registration Details
You will need to register by Friday, October 31, 2025, to be eligible to participate.
To register:
- Visit the Educational Travel Adventures (ETA) website at: https://www.etadventures.com/. Click the green text in the top section of the screen that says “Customer Login.”
- Next, you will be prompted to enter your trip code which is berkeleyperu26.
- On the next screen, choose the option to “Access Account.” You will be prompted to create an account using your email address or your personal Google account.
- If you have previously created an account with ETA, you may sign into your existing account to make a reservation and you will not need to create a new account.
- Once you are into your account, select “Add a New Trip,” and then enter berkeleyperu26.
- You should see the trip details at this point. Select “Make a New Reservation” and complete ALL fields.
