A Brief History of the Berkeley Blazers

When Berkeley Preparatory School moved to the Kelly Road campus in 1979, a group of alumni mothers whose children were students in the 1960s toured the new campus with E.C. Smith. They decided their support was still needed, and they formed the Berkeley Blazers. The name alludes to the navy blazer of the Berkeley Friday uniform and recalls those in the forefront of a cause, blazing a trail for others to follow.

Over the years, Blazers’ membership dues have supported several endowed scholarships and other projects. Most recently, Blazers’ dues funded a stained-glass window in the Berkeley Chapel, the Biology Project Room in the Gries Center for the Arts and Sciences, the Conference Room in the Seivold Center for Early Childhood Education, and the office of the Middle Division Personal Counselor.

The Blazers continue to dedicate themselves to the success of Berkeley Preparatory School.
