Athletics enrich the lives of Berkeley students. With an Open Participation Policy, more than 80 percent of our students compete in interscholastic sports. This creates a climate of teamwork, cooperation, and sportsmanship that encourages students to develop new skills and talents, often with dramatic results.
The combination of sound coaching, hard work, talent, and academic preparation has allowed our students to garner scholarships from dozens of schools including Bucknell University, Harvard University, Dartmouth College, Cornell University, Davidson College, Duke University, Elon University, Furman University, University of Notre Dame, Southern Methodist University, Tufts University, Amherst College, Army West Point, Ohio State University, Pepperdine University, Northwestern University, Rhodes College, and the University of Pennsylvania. Berkeley currently has
70 alumni competing at the collegiate level and four alumni competing as a professional.
Berkeley annually ranks as a top five athletic program among over 80 Bay area public and private schools. Our varsity teams compete against the state’s best competition in every sport. Berkeley hosts and competes in some of the nation’s best tournaments.
Berkeley’s full range of varsity and junior varsity teams in the Middle and Upper Divisions includes 16 sports and more than 81 teams. Berkeley is a 4A school and a member of the Florida High School Athletic Association and the Florida West Coast League.
