Hannah Flitman ’24 Named Top Scholar in 2024 Regeneron Science Talent Search

Feb 02, 2024

Hannah Flitman ’24 is the only student in Hillsborough County who was named a top 300 international scholar in the 2024 Regeneron Science Talent Search, a prestigious science and math competition for high school seniors. The competition is owned and produced by Society for Science.

By being named a Regeneron STS scholar, Flitman joins an impressive list. Since the competition’s founding in 1942, other Regeneron STS scholars have been honored with 13 Nobel Prizes, 11 National Medals of Science, 21 MacArthur Foundation Fellowships, and more.

Flitman was selected out of 2,162 applicants from 712 high schools across 46 states, Guam, Puerto Rico, and 10 other countries (the largest applicant pool since 1969). As a top 300 scholar, she will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship, with an additional $2,000 given to Berkeley’s Science Department.

Scholars were chosen based on their outstanding research, leadership skills, community involvement, commitment to academics, creativity in asking scientific questions, and demonstration of exceptional promise as leaders in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through original, independent research projects, essays, and recommendations.
