Berkeley Debate Team Rounds Out an Incredible Season

Congratulations to the Berkeley Debate Team on the end of an incredible season! At the recent Tournament of Champions, two duos—Maryclare Nestor ’25 and Emma Yu ’25, as well as Mateen Zafaranian ’25 and Alan Risal ’26—fought to a national ranking in the top 70. Michael Ross ’25 and Sameer Varkantham ’25 (pictured here) rounded out a particularly successful season by becoming the highest-placing team of juniors in the country and two of the three juniors named the top 10 speakers in the country.
