Strategic Plan

Our Strategic Planning Process

Over the past year, our Berkeley community has been involved in a new strategic planning process. It has been a major effort in which the Board of Trustees, our Headmaster, faculty and staff, our parents, and alumni have shared in the development of this sustainable plan for our school. Our new strategic plan, Berkeley Forever, outlines key strategies that build on our successes and it charts a course that will take us to new levels of excellence in education.

Along with stakeholder aspirations, we gathered a view from the field via surveys during September and October 2017. We achieved high response rates. From our grade 8 through grade 12 students, we received 720 responses. Over 500 parents responded, along with nearly 300 alumni and over 200 faculty and staff. We conducted 12 in-person focus groups, which were facilitated by Triangle Associates, Inc. Triangle Associates did an analysis of operating data and trends, including research about the market, and benchmarked Berkeley against peer schools and industry best practices.

In February 2018, the Board of Trustees met to initiate the formulation of potential strategic issues, which were iterated and refined over the remainder of the school year. Over the summer, implementation tactics were drafted to support our strategies.

The Berkeley Forever strategic plan was unanimously approved by the Board of Trustees in September 2018. Berkeley Forever encompasses four key goals: A Transformative Educational Journey, Professional Excellence, A Vibrant and Engaged Community, and Sustaining the Institution.
Founded in 1960, Berkeley is an independent, Episcopal, college-preparatory day school located in Tampa, FL, for boys and girls in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 12. Approximately 1,400 students gather here from the greater Tampa Bay area to form ONE Berkeley.
