“Ocklawaha: Tales My Father Told” Screening and Talkback

In honor of Earth Week, the Upper Division Environmental Club and Global Scholars hosted Dr. John Gottsch ’68—a distinguished alumnus, ophthalmologist, and composer—for a screening of “Ocklawaha: Tales My Father Told” in the Gabos Family Recital Hall yesterday evening. The viewing was followed by a live talkback with Dr. Gottsch and the cinematographers, filmmakers, and producers of the film, who have created work for National Geographic, Discovery Channel, ESPN, and more.
The film is adapted from Dr. Gottsch’s symphonic poem of the same name, which was inspired by his discussions and journeys with his father down the Ocklawaha River when he was a young boy. The film marries classical music with Florida history and award-winning wildlife cinematography.
