New Outlook

When reading the scripture from St. Luke this week, I found that the moral was focused on thankfulness in even the hardest of situations, essentially to be grateful and trust the process.

This passage really resonated with me as I underwent ankle surgery over the summer, and am just coming back to volleyball. When I found out I wouldn’t be able to play my sophomore season I was crushed, and it was difficult to be grateful in that situation, because I wondered what I did to deserve the injury.

I turned to God and tried my best to trust that I would get through it.  I stuck with my team and now that I’m on the other side, I’m thankful it happened. I didn’t know it then, but the whole experience has given me a different outlook on sports as a whole, and life. Now, small inconveniences don’t bother me; I’ve become grateful for things I used to overlook. I’m thankful that I’m healthy enough to walk, let alone play.

Overall, this scriptures really exemplifies the importance of giving thanks even when you feel down, or even if it seems there is little to be thankful for.
