100 Berkeley Sixth Graders Clean Up Tampa’s Sweetwater Park

Sixth graders spent some time this afternoon cleaning up Sweetwater Park, a 20-acre park located less than a mile from Berkeley’s campus and managed by Hillsborough County. Berkeley has “adopted” the park as part of the Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful "Adopt-A-Spot" program. The park includes a playground and basketball area frequented by neighborhood families. Students will participate in Sweetwater Park clean ups at least four times per year, and today was their first Sweetwater Park clean-up effort.

The KHCB project is just one of many community service projects that students participate in throughout the year. Overall, more than 1200 children in prekindergarten through grade 12 at Berkeley collectively perform in excess of 25,000 hours of community service each year.
