Class of 2010 Gives Back to the Community

Each year, Berkeley seniors spend part of the last week of school giving back to the community by volunteering for various nonprofit organizations throughout the Tampa Bay area. This year was no exception! The class of 2010 worked, played and modeled Berkeley’s vision, “Berkeley puts people in the world who make a positive difference.” Seniors divided up into groups and volunteered at Feeding America, Simply Spring Donation Center/Thrift Store, Alpha House, Quantum Leap Farm, Child Abuse Council - Dimples Playland, St. John Presbyterian Learning Center and the Dover School. Students also spent time volunteering for the Keep Hillsborough County Beautiful Program by cleaning up Perrone Park in Town N’ Country and Burnett Park in Seffner.

In addition to volunteering in the community, the seniors help to organize their end-of-year community service projects because it’s a great opportunity to participate in something meaningful and productive during their final moments together as a class. Berkeley’s community service program begins in pre-kindergarten, and 100 percent of pre-K – grade 12 students participate in many projects throughout the year. Annually, Berkeley students perform a combined total of more than 25,000 hours of community service.
